1/6/2023 0 Comments Review pcunlocker![]() The BitLocker setup GUI will make you add at least one recovery option such as save to a removable drive or print the code unless one of the other options has already been selected via policy or settings the only way to not save the recovery key anywhere is to setup bitlocker through the command line manage-bde and not take a copy of the Recovery Key when it prints it to the screen and tells you to keep it in a safe place (don't do that).Īssuming that this isn't a corporate device setup for them with appropriate policies (which I assume you would know), and they haven't enrolled it in Intune (check there if it is possible they have self-enrolled), then you need to ask them to check: ![]() Print recovery key (it does not warn you if print it to a PDF file, and store that on the encrypted drive, do not save it as a PDF to the encrypted volume).Text file (same as USB Drive, except you get to choose the path to save it in, not just the root of the drive, also can't be encrypted).USB drive (won't let you save to a Bitlockered USB drive).Microsoft Cloud / Microsoft Account if the user logs in with a Microsoft Account, and chose to backup the key to their Microsoft Account at setup, or at a later date.MBAM can escrow the recovery key after Bitlocker setup if the client is installed later. Microsoft Bitlocker Administration & Monitoring if you have an MBAM Server, the MBAM Client is installed on the device, policies are set correctly, and the user has been logged in and computer connected to the corporate network for more than 30 minutes.Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune and the appropriate Intune settings are set.
